A rich folk culture and Bekal fort have made Kasargod a major destination. The district lies on the northern end of Kerala and has strong cultural influence of the neighbouring regions of Karnataka.
Yakshagana, Theyyam and Poorakkali are folk arts having their origin in Kasargod. These art forms are closely linked with festivals and rituals. They are colourful, rhythmic and exciting.
Bekal, Chandragiri and Hosdurg forts are much sought after by those interested in history, architecture and archeology. Like other coastal regions of Kerala, Kasargod also had close trade relationships with many Arab and western countries.
Beaches, rivers, backwater and hill stations give immense natural beauty to the place.
